The College Board states that the average math SAT score is 514 with a standard deviation of 117. Colleen gathered data from 50

students in her graduating class and found the average score to be 523. She thinks that her class’s math SAT score is different from the average. Which of the following are the correct null hypothesis and alternate hypothesis?

In hypothesis testing, A null hypothesis (H0) is a claim which the person conducting the research wants to test while an alternative hypothesis (H1) is a contradiction of the null hypothesis.

There are two types of tests in hypothesis testing.

One tailed test: In one tailed test, a claim that a parameter is greater than/ less than a value is being tested. i.e mean > value or mean < value.

Two tailed test: In a two tailed test, a claim that a value is equal to a value is tested, i.e mean = value.

In the question above, Colleen is testing the claim that the average score of her class is the same as others against that it is different from others.
Therefore, the null hypothesis is H0: mean = 514 while the alternative hypothesis is H1: mean ≠ 514

Suppose a radioactive substance decays at a rate of 4% per hour. How long does it take until the substance is half of its origin
Stolb23 [73]

Answer:

The radioactive substance will decay in 17.70 hours .

Step-by-step explanation:

Given as :

The rate of decay of radioactive substance = 4 %  per hour

Let The original weight of substance = w

The final weight of substance = \frac{w}{2}

Let the hours for decay of substance = n

Now,

The weight of substance after n years = The original weight of substance × (1- \dfrac{\textrm Rate}{100})^{n}

or,

\frac{w}{2} = w × (1- \dfrac{\textrm 4}{100})^{n}

Or, \frac{1}{2} = (1- \dfrac{\textrm 1}{25})^{n}

or,  \frac{1}{2} = (\dfrac{\textrm 25-1}{25})^{n}

or,  \frac{1}{2} = (\dfrac{\textrm 24}{25})^{n}

Taking log both sides :

Log  \frac{1}{2} = Log (\dfrac{\textrm 24}{25})^{n}

So, Log \frac{1}{2} = n × Log \frac{24}{25}

∴ - 0.301 =  n × ( - 0.017 )

So , n = \frac{0.301}{0.017}

I.e n = 17.70  hours

Hence The radioactive substance will decay in 17.70 hours . Answer

Three ordered pairs that solve the equation x - 4 Y equals -18
lawyer [7]
X-4y=-18
an easy way is to solve for oone variable
solve for x
add 4y both sides
x=4y-18

when y=1, x=-16
when y=0, x=-18
when y=2, x=-10

(x,y)
so some orderd pairs are
(-16,1)
(-18,0)
(-10,2)

What is the point slope form of a line with slope -3 that contains the point (2,-2)
dusya [7]

Answer:

y+2 = -3(x-2)

Step-by-step explanation:

Point slope form of an equation is

y-y1 = m(x-x1) where m is the slope and (x1,y1) is a point on the line

y - -2 = -3( x-2)

y+2 = -3(x-2)
