Let the number of sports drinks April bought be represented by = s

Let the pizza slices April bought be represented by = p

As she spent a total of $21.25 so equation becomes:

s+p=21.25

p+3+p=21.25

2p=18.25

p=9.125

As she bought 3 more sports drinks than pizza slices so, s = p+3

Answer:

Number of Sports drinks purchased is equal to 8

Step-by-step explanation:

Complete Question

April bought some sports drinks and slices of pizza for her friends. She bought 3 more sports drinks than slices of pizza. If her total order was 21.25, how many sports drinks did she purchase? one slice of pizza cost 2.25 and one sport drink cost 1.25

Solution -

Let the total number of slices of pizza's purchased be X

Then the total number of sports drinks purchased would be X + 3

Given -

Price of one slice of pizza = 2.25 dollars

Price of one sports drinks = 1.25 dollars

The total cost of X slices of pizza and X + 3 sports drinks would be

X * 2.25 + (X+3) * 1.25 = 21.25

2.25 X + 1.25 X + 3.75 = 21.25 \\3.5 X = 21.25 -3.75\\3.5 X = 17.5\\X = \frac{17.5}{3.5} \\X = 5

Thus, the number of slices of pizza purchased is equal to 5

Hence, number of Sports drinks purchased is equal to

5 + 3\\8

point M divides AB so that AM:MB 1:2. If A has coordinates (-1,-3) and B has coordinates (8,9), what are the coordinates of M?
maria [59]

Answer:

The coordinates of point M are (2,1)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's call the coordinates of point M by (x, y)

We have that the rate AM:MB is 1/2, so we can calculate x and y as follows:

x-coordinate of A is equal to -1, and x-coordinate of B is equal to 8, then:

AM:MB = [x - (-1)] / [8 - x] = 1/2

(x+1)/(8-x) = 1/2

2x+2 = 8-x

3x = 6

x = 2

y-coordinate of A is equal to -3, and y-coordinate of B is equal to 9, then:

AM:MB = [y - (-3)] / [9 - y] = 1/2

(y+3)/(9-y) = 1/2

2y+6 = 9-x

3y = 3

y = 1

So the coordinates of point M are x = 2 and y = 1 or (2,1)

Write an equation for the line that passes through the given point and is perpendicular to the graph of the given equation.
Nezavi [6.7K]

Answer:

 • y + 2 = - 3/2(x - 4)

Step-by-step explanation:

Given line:

 • y + 4 = 2/3(x - 2)

It has a slope of 2/3.

Perpendicular lines have negative-reciprocal slopes, so the perpendicular slope is:

 • m = - 3/2

Find its equation provided it passes through the point (4, - 2):

 • y - (-2) = - 3/2(x - 4)
 • y + 2 = - 3/2(x - 4)
