Hey there! The answer would be less than because 10% of the first number would be more than 10% of the second number. If you don't know what I mean then look at this as a example. 100*0.10=10, of you subtract 100 by 10 you get 90, 90*0.10=9, you add 90 by 9 you get 99, 99 is less than 100 (99<100). Do you see what I mean. If not feel free to message me. :)

One way it so try

100
increase by 10%
10% of 100=10 so 100+10=110

then decrease by 10%
10% of 110=11 so 110-11=99

original number=100
is 99 greater than or less or equal the original?
99<100
it is less

A certain circle in the xy-plane has its center at the origin. If P is a point on the circle, what is the sum of the squares of
MAXImum [283]

Answer:

Statement (1) is sufficient.

Statement (2) is not sufficient.

Step-by-step explanation:

Consider we need to find check whether the given statements are sufficient or not.

The standard form of a circle is

(x-h)^2+(y-k)^2=r^2

where, (h,k) is center and r is the radius.

The center of the circle is (0,0). So, the equation of circle is

(x-0)^2+(y-0)^2=r^2

x^2+y^2=r^2

Statement (1) : The radius of the circle is 4.

x^2+y^2=(4)^2

x^2+y^2=16

The sum of the squares of the coordinates of P is 16. So statement (1) is sufficient.

Statement (2) : The sum of the coordinates of P is 0.

x^2+y^2=r^2

x+y=0

We can not solve these two equation because radius is not given.

Therefore, the statement (2) is not sufficient.
