A 45.0 kg ice skater stands at rest on the ice. A friend tosses the skater a 5.0 kg ball. The skater and the ball then move back

wards across the ice with a speed of 0.5 m/s. What was the speed of the ball at the moment just before the skater caught it?

Answer:

u = 5 m/s

Explanation:

given,

Mass of ice skater, M = 45 Kg

initial speed = 0 m/s

mass of the ball, m = 5 Kg

velocity of skater and the ball,V = 0.5 m/s

speed of the ball = ?

using conservation of momentum

m u + M u' =( M + m ) V

initial speed of ice skater is zero

5 x u + 45 x 0 =( 45 + 5 ) V

5 u = 50 x 0.5

5 u = 25

u = 5 m/s

hence, the speed of the ball is equal to 5 m/s

Answer:

P_{out} = 0.100 W = 100 mW

Explanation:

The attached image shows the system expressed in the question.

We can define an expression for the system.

The equivalent equation for the system would be

G_{total} = G_{1} + G_{2} + G_{3}\\G_{total} = -16dB+20dB-10 dB = -6 dB

so, the input signal could be expressed in dB terms

P_{in} [dB] = 10 log_{10}(P_{in}) \\P_{in} [dB] = 10 log_{10}(0.4)\\P_{in} [dB] = -3.97 dB (1)

so the output signal could be expressed as.

P_{out} = P_{in} + G_{1} + G_{2} + G_{3}\\P_{out} = -3.97 dB - 6dB = -9.97 dB

The gain should be expressed in dB terms and power in dBm terms so

P_{out} = -9.97 + 30 = 20.03 dBm

using the (1) equation to find it in terms of Watts

P_{out} = 0.100 W = 100 mW

Answer:

Explanation:

While women have made significant strides in the past decades, the culture at large continues to place a great emphasis on how women look. These beauty standards, largely proliferated through the media, have drastic impacts on young women and their body images.he correlation between media image and body image has been proven; in one study, among European American and African American girls ages 7 - 12, greater overall television exposure predicted both a thinner ideal adult body shape and a higher level of disordered eating one year later. Adolescent girls are the most strongly affected demographic.As women have become increasingly aware of the effect of media on their body images, they have started media literacy programs to make women and girls more aware of the messages they are inadvertently consuming.Analysis of study results showed that social comparison with a favourite character strongly predicted level of body dissatisfaction compared to the ideal that the characters represented. As expected, females showed greater dissatisfaction with actual body weight and body image appears related to likelihood of dieting behaviour in the previous year.

What type of waves does not need a medium to travel through?
VashaNatasha [74]

Answer: Electromagnetic waves

Explanation:

Electromagnetic waves differ from mechanical waves in that they do not require a medium to propagate. This means that electromagnetic waves can travel not only through air and solid materials, but also through the vacuum of space.
