Use context clues to figure out the meaning of the phrase “wet he hoof.” Write one to three sentences explaining your definition
hjlf

Answer: The phrase "wet he hoof" means to get his foot wet. The author describes the setting with Bruh Deer at the edge of the river trying to cross. He sees Bruh Alligator, so he does not have a chance to get in the water, not even with one foot. These context clues show that the words probably mean "get his foot wet."

Darina [25.2K]

Answer:

D) ) ...since, without such control in the crown, our constitution would immediately degenerate into  democracy; a government which, if made again, I hope to prove ineligible..

Explanation:

'Plain Truth' is a pamphlet written by James Chalmers under the pseudonym '<em>Candidus</em>' in response to Paine's pamphlet, titled 'Common Sense.'

The pamphlet was written in oppose of the ideas presented by Paine in Common Sense. Chalmers mocked the idea of Colonies idea of fighting for independence against the Great Britain.

The statement from the text 'Plain Truth' that best describes how the author feels about America's proposed government is in the above stated statement, in which the author asserts that a democratic government, which colonies is desiring to build will be proved ineligible, if constitution is not controlled by the crown.

Thus the correct answer is option D.
