The California sea lion is capable of making extremely fast, tight turns while swimming underwater. In one study, scientists obs

erved a sea lion making a circular turn with a radius of 0.37 m while swimming at 4.0 m/s.
What is the sea lion's centripetal acceleration, in units of g?

What percentage is this acceleration of that of an F-15 fighter jet's maximum centripetal acceleration of 9g?

Answer:

Acceleration of Sea Lion is 4.41 g

This is 49% of maximum jet acceleration given as a = 9g

Explanation:

As we know that the radius of the circular loop is given as

R = 0.37 m

The speed of the fish is given as

v = 4 m/s

Now the centripetal acceleration of the sea lion is given as

a_c = \frac{v^2}{R}

a_c = \frac{4^2}{0.37}

a_c = 43.2 m/s^2

as we know that

g = 9.8 m/s^2

so we have

a = 4.41 g

Now Percentage of this acceleration wrt maximum jet acceleration is given as

P = \frac{4.41 g}{9g} \times 100

P = 49%

Rupert (66 kg) is now in a full-pipe of radius 25 m, calculate the minimum speed at which Rupert can skate to ensure he will not
V125BC [204]

at the top most point if Rupert will not fall then normal force at the top point is almost zero for minimum speed

so here we can say

F_n + mg = m\frac{v^2}{R}

now if

F_n = 0

mg = \frac{mv^2}{R}

v = \sqrt{Rg}

v = \sqrt{25 \times 9.8}

v = 15.65 m/s

so above will be the minimum speed

A(n) 93 kg clock initially at rest on a horizontal floor requires a(n) 610 N horizontal force to set it in motion. After the clo
denpristay [2]

Answer:0.669

Explanation:

Given

mass of clock 93 kg

Initial force required to move it 610 N

After clock sets in motion it requires a force of 514 N to keep moving it with a constant velocity

Initially static friction is acting which is more than kinetic friction

thus 613 force is required to overcome static friction

\mu _smg=610

\mu _s\times 93\times 9.8=610

\mu _s=0.669
