Answer:

Explanation:

Givens

Time taken to go down + time taken for the sound to come up = 1.17 seconds.

d = 7.92 m

a = 9.81 m/s^2

t (see below)

vi = ???

Solution to How long it takes to come back up.

v = 343 m/s

d = 7.92 meters

t = ?

t = d/v

t = 7.92 m / 343 m/s

t = 0.0231 seconds.

Solution to time taken to go down.

Time_down = 1.17 - 0.0231

time_down = 1.147 seconds

Solution to vi

d = vi*t + 1/2 a t^2

7.92 = vi*1.147 + 1/2 * 9.81 * 1.147^2

7.92 = vi*1.147 + 6.452                    Subtract 6.452 from both sides.

7.92 - 6.452 = 1.147*vi

1.468 = 1.147 * vi                              Divide by 1.147

1.468 / 1.147 = vi

1.279 m/s = vi

Why does the chord of an electric heater not glow while the heating element does
8_murik_8 [283]

Answer:

The heating element of the heater is made up of alloy which has very high resistance so when current flows through the heating element, it becomes too hot and glows red. But the resistance of cord which is usually of copper or aluminum is very low so it does not glow.

irga5000 [103]

Answer:

Explanation:

Potential difference is created when a long object of length l moves perpendicular to magnetic field . The potential difference created is

V = Blv where B is magnetic field , l is length and v is velocity of length l .

here V = 45 x 10⁻⁶ x 44000 x 1.2

= 2.376 volt .

b )

Electric field = V / l  ;       V is potential difference between length l .

= 2.376 / 44000

= 54 x 10⁻⁶ V/m

_____ All elements in this series are radioactive?
Vitek1552 [10]

Answer:

     Actinide series : All the elements in the actinides series are radiactive

Explanation:

The question is to fill in the blank which series of elements in the periodic table are radiactive.

The answer is the actnide series.

The actinide series is the elements in the same row as actinide since the same actnide (atomic number 89) to the lawrencium (atomic number 103).

Among other elements, this series include thorium, uranium and plutonium which are very known as radiactive elements, since they are used in nuclear reactors, which use nuclear fission reactions.

The reason for the radioactivity of these elements is the massive unstable nucleus.

A heavy nucleus means a large amount of positive charge (protons) concentrated in a tiny region (the nucleus of the atom).

The electrostatic repulsion among those so many protons is not balanced by the strong nuclear force (from the neutrons) resulting in the unstability (radioactivity) of the nucleus.

How many ways or features that allow us to know if something is living or non living?
Ivenika [448]
Well sometimes you know if it's alive if it's moving or we'll skip that. Cells are the smallest unit of life they are made up cells, and blood powers those. So feel the temperature and pulse rate and that will give you an idea of wither or not it is alive.
